Kalli & Layne

Our Journey

First Date: February 13th 2026

It’s still hard for us to believe that all of this started with a little setup from our sisters while they were serving their missions in the Philippines.
On Sunday, February 8th, 2026, they each called us and told us the same thing: we had to follow each other on Instagram and go on a date that week. We had two options—Friday the 13th or Valentine’s Day on Saturday the 14th. After a little thought, we decided Friday the 13th was the better choice.
Our first date started at Raising Cane’s. I had never been before and pretty quickly decided that Chick-fil-A was definitely better.
After that, we headed to The Rush, where we played mini golf and arcade games. Before this date, we had both separately decided that we weren’t looking to date anyone or fall in love. So, we went into the night with no expectations. We figured we could just be ourselves, have fun, and see what happened. After all, we had nothing to lose.
Little did we know, that one little date would change our lives forever.
I wasn’t sure if I wanted a second date until we played Connect Four basketball. After losing at pretty much everything else that night, I finally won! But what really caught my attention wasn’t the fact that I won—it was how Layne reacted. Instead of being upset that he lost, he celebrated with me.
I remember thinking, “Dang, this guy is so nice. I’d really love to go on another date with him.”
Of course, I still didn’t think there would actually be a second date.
What I didn’t know was that Layne was already feeling something different. He saw a sparkle in my eyes that I had never really seen in myself, and he knew he wanted to see me again.
Neither of us went into that night looking for love. We weren’t expecting anything to come from it, and honestly, that might be what made it so special. We were just two people being completely ourselves—and somehow, that was enough to start something that would become everything.
Asked me to be his girlfriend:
March 8th 2026

By March 8th, we had become inseparable. I was still a little shocked that a simple setup by our two sisters had somehow led to us dating and becoming such a big part of each other’s lives.
A few days before Layne asked me to be his girlfriend, he sat me down and talked to me about how he wanted to ask me and what being in a relationship might look like for both of us. From the very beginning, we both knew we wanted the Lord to be at the forefront of our relationship.
That had been something I had wanted for most of my teenage years, but after having that standard and seeing it not always work out, I had slowly stopped holding onto it. With Layne, though, something was different. From the very beginning, I felt comfortable being completely myself, and I found myself wanting to hold onto those standards again.
After thinking and praying about it for a few days, I knew that saying yes was the right thing for us.
And then, on March 8th, Layne finally asked me to be his girlfriend—in the most us way possible: in the driveway.
It wasn’t flashy or over-the-top. There was no big production or elaborate plan. It was just us, in a completely ordinary moment that somehow became one of the most special moments of our story.
Honestly, it was perfect.
And just like that, we officially became us.
Proposed: June 11th 2026

I knew we were getting engaged sometime that weekend, but I had no idea what day it would happen.
The weekend of June 11th–14th, Layne was heading down to St. George to help some friends, and I was headed to Cedar City because, unfortunately, I had to run the Top of Zion. Layne offered to drive down with me and drop me off in Cedar City, so on June 11th, he came to pick me up.
When my mom came downstairs to tell me Layne was there, I was wearing sweats. She looked at me and said, “You can’t wear that. You’re getting engaged this weekend! You should probably dress nice every day.”
Naturally, I asked what Layne was wearing. She told me he was wearing a collared shirt.
I immediately thought, “Oh no. He hates collared shirts. It’s happening today.”
Turns out, I was wrong.  Layne doesn’t actually hate collared shirts, he just doesn’t wear them very often. But at the time, I was convinced I had figured it all out.
So, I changed, did my hair and makeup, and we were off!
I didn’t really start getting nervous until we stopped in Beaver to use the bathroom. When I got back in the car, Layne casually told me that we needed to go save his friend’s wife, Bryn, because she had a flat tire.
Of course, I immediately had about a million questions. Where was she? Why was she there? How did she get a flat? What was she doing?
Layne didn’t really have answers to any of my questions, which only made me more suspicious. Then I asked what she was doing out there, and he told me she was fishing.
I remember thinking, “She is DEFINITELY not someone who goes fishing.”
We eventually made it to Cedar Canyon and started driving up the canyon. That’s when both of our nerves really started to kick in. We were laughing at everything, and I was saying the most random things. Looking back, it was completely us.
We finally pulled up to a little pullout, and there it was: a cute blanket, balloons, and a “Marry Me” sign.
And if you notice, it said “Marry Me” not “Will you marry me?”
That was completely intentional. Layne knew without a doubt that he wanted to marry me.
It was the sweetest setup, simple, thoughtful, and so perfectly us. I loved every little detail.

And now, here we are—getting ready to celebrate the next and most exciting chapter of our story!

It’s hard to believe how quickly everything has happened. Somewhere along the way, we went from two people who weren’t looking for love to best friends, to fiancés, and now we’re getting ready to become husband and wife.

Our wedding day isn’t just about one day. It’s about celebrating everything that brought us here and looking forward to everything that’s still ahead. We’re so excited to make memories, laugh, dance, and celebrate with the people who have loved and supported us along the way.

Most of all, we’re excited to begin this next chapter together—with the Lord at the center and a lifetime of adventures ahead of us.

We can’t wait to celebrate with all of you and officially begin our forever.

Guest Questions

When is the wedding?

We are thrilled to celebrate our special day on November 20th, 2026.

Where will we be?

The Fifth Floor in Ogden. 2411 Kiesel Ave Unit 502 Ogden, Utah 84401

How can I RSVP?

We would love to have you join us. Please let us know by October 24th, 2026. You only need to RSVP if you received a card with your invitation about the sealing, luncheon or ring ceremony. RSVP to Kalli, her number is on one of the cards that was with your invite.

What should I wear?

We are asking that our guests come in black tie attire. So, for women that would be a floor length dress that is a little fancier then a church dress. For men that will be a suit and tie. This is our preference.

We don't want you to go out and buy an expensive dress or feel like you can't come, if you don't own a black-tie outfit. Just come in your best, we will love to see you.

You can wear any color dress, or suit. We are going for a more sleek, elegant look. It will be November so prep for any weather.
